Va. lottery winner claims $107 million prize, 3rd largest in state history

A 25-year-old McLean man has claimed his $107 million jackpot from the Virginia Lottery’s Mega Millions game.

The prize is the third largest in the state lottery’s history.

Brian McCarthy matched all six numbers in the lottery’s July 1 drawing, using the auto pick feature at a Giant supermarket in Herndon, where he grew up. The winning ticket was one of five he bought that day.
