Manchester marketing executive Patrick Griffin has presented the New Hampshire Lottery Commission with the historic first ticket sold in the first legal state lottery. Griffin anonymously purchased the 1964 ticket at auction with the intent of loaning it to the Lottery for display.
The ticket – marked # 0000001 – has been kept in a Plexiglas case and is in mint condition. The back of the ticket bears the autographs of former Governor John King, racing legend Lou Smith, and the original Sweepstakes commissioners and directors. The ticket was sold at auction in June for $5,000.
