NH Lottery Begins the Search for NH’s Next Musical Superstar

Monday, February 18, 2008

Concord NH – The New Hampshire Lottery® today announced the launch of “NH Lottery Star,” a web based contest at nhlotterystar.com in which the winner will star in upcoming TV and radio Lottery commercials and cut their own professional music demo.

“We’re extremely excited about this new contest,” said Rick Wisler, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Lottery Commission®. “We can’t wait to hear all of the entries and particularly New Hampshire’s next musical sensation chosen by the lottery’s Replay members. Who will it be? There’s only one way to find out…Get in the game!”

Whether you’re a singer, musician, or in a band, this is your chance to step into the spotlight. Contestants are asked to videotape themselves singing the lyrics of our high jackpot hit, “State of Excitement,” which can be found at nhlotterystar.com. Performers can sing solo or in a group and can arrange the song in any musical style. The videos are then uploaded to the website, where NH Lottery Replay® players will rank their favorites.

Ten semi-finalists will eventually be pared down to three. The grand prize is a custom music demo recording session at Studio Metronome, Inc and a staring role in upcoming NH Lottery TV and radio commercials. Second place is a complete guitar, bass, and drum package from Daddy’s Junky Music. Third place is a $500 gift certificate from Daddy’s.

Dozens of NH Lottery Star singers will give their best performances (from dubious to diva-ish) in their kitchens, living rooms, and garages. Dozens more will have a chance to try out at public auditions at different locations around the state. Organizers will videotape the open-mic performances for later upload to nhlotterystar.com. The largest public auditions are scheduled for an event at the University of New Hampshire on Wednesday, March 12th.

While budding local musicians have a chance at winning tools of the trade, some NH Lottery Replay® players will also win special prizes for playing along. Online submissions and voting continue from February 19, 2008 to April 8, 2008. The Grand Prize winner will be announced in May. Entrants must sign-up or log on to NH Lottery Replay® to be eligible to upload videos.
